It’s no secret that we all love a good home cooked meal. We find that cooking at home is such a great way to unwind after a long day and enjoy a delicious healthy meal with our families, our friends and ourselves. One of our favorite ways to prepare food at home is grilling, but that can be tough in these cold winter months.
Thankfully we can grill up some of our favorite recipes using the Sharp Supersteam+ Combination Steam and Convection Oven; it uses superheated steam to grill, sauté and roast our favorite foods. Cooking with superheated steam is a healthy alternative to using oils or other fats, and provides some great health benefits. Superheated steam gets up to 485 degrees and can even singe a piece of paper straight through! We rounded up some of our favorite home cooked grilling recipes that can all be made using our Supersteam+.
Balsamic Grilled Mushroom Skewers
When people think grilling, often meat is the first option that comes to mind. But that doesn’t have to be the case. In fact, one of our favorite things to grill are mushrooms because the caramelization effect brings out the natural flavors of vegetables. We suggest slicing up some mushrooms ¼ of an inch thick and marinating them in some balsamic vinegar, soy sauce, garlic, and thyme. Skewer the veggies and grill until tender. Yum!
Grilled Salmon with Avocado Salsa
Is there anything better than grilled salmon? We’d have to argue not. Salmon is heart healthy and delicious no matter how you prepare it. Not to mention the fact that the omega three fatty acids in the fish are great for glowing skin, perfect during these dry winter months to brighten our glow. We love to marinate ours using olive oil, salt, cumin, paprika, onion powder, chili powder and black pepper and let sit in the refrigerator for a few hours. Pop in the grill and prepare some yummy avocado salsa to top it all off. All you’ll need for the salsa is one chopped avocado, some red onion, lime juice, cilantro and salt. Mix all the ingredients together and top the salmon once it is fully cooked.
Grilled Pineapple with Cinnamon Honey Drizzle
It wouldn’t be a proper round up if we didn’t include some sort of sweet treat. Grilled fruit is a great alternative to a traditional dessert, and it’s just as delicious! Grilling pineapple sears the juices in the fruit and gives it a satisfying crisp. Cut up a pineapple into long strips and grill for five to ten minutes. While the fruit is grilling mix together some honey and a dash of cinnamon. Once the fruit is cooked through drizzle the honey mixture over the fruit and enjoy. Bonus points if you serve with a single scoop of vanilla ice cream! How is that for an organic tasty treat?
