Bright, Vibrant Kitchens
Minimalism is out for 2024. We are saying goodbye to neutral pallets and welcoming color and bold designs into our homes. We can expect to see a shift from grays, whites, and other neutral colors to bold, eccentric colors. Pulling inspiration from vintage pieces and the 1960s, we can expect to see some pops of color and fun patterns throughout the home, especially in the kitchen.
Let’s welcome bright, patterned tile, cabinets, and artwork to fill our homes. What color
Repurposing Leftovers
I’ll admit I am guilty of forgetting about my leftovers in the fridge. After a day or two of eating the same exact thing, it can get boring. But who said the leftovers have to be eaten in their original form? This year we’re reimagining leftovers. Transform the rotisserie chicken and veggies from last night into an entirely new dish – maybe chicken pot pie? Or how about some creamy chicken and wild rice soup? Transform the leftover carcass from your turkey or chicken into a delicious broth. Learn how to create a simple broth (and a hearty turkey lentil soup!) here.
Make the most of the food you have in your home! Instead of eating an exact repeat of yesterday’s meal, use your imagination to turn it into an entirely different dish. With a few extra ingredients, your leftovers can become a restaurant-quality dish.
Not only will you be exploring your creative culinary side, but you may reduce food waste along the way.
Mix and Match Aesthetic
There was a time when complete matching sets were all the rage. Every piece of dining, living room, and bedroom furniture was a piece in a set. This made the purchasing decision simple for the consumer. If they liked the whole set, they could purchase it all at once.
In 2024, we can expect a carefully curated space with mixed and matched pieces. The items selected are pieced together to create a lived-in feel. The mix-and-match vision can be pieced together by pairing conventionally contrasted items together. This could mean vintage and modern furniture in the space, or it could be a mix of colors, tones, grains, and metals. At the end of the day, the pieces should reflect your style.
