Our Summertime Beach + Pool Essentials

It’s officially summer, which means warmer weather, longer days, and more sunshine! This year your plans may look a little different in terms of traveling and spending time with friends and family, but that doesn’t mean you still can’t have a fantastic day at the beach or sitting by the pool. We are sharing a few tips and must-have items to bring along so that you can have a relaxing day spent in the sun.

Sunscreen

Protecting your skin from the sun is one of the most important things you can do when sitting and swimming in the pool or ocean. Sunburn is extremely uncomfortable and can lead to long-term skin damage, that’s why we always pack some SPF! We love opting for a more natural, sustainable product with better-for-you ingredients like Sunbum’s SPF 30 Spray or Aveeno Positive Mineral SPF 50 Sunscreen. Just be sure to reapply every so often to ensure your skin stays burn-free!

Infused Water

Staying hydrated is key—that’s why we always pack a reusable water bottle to bring along with us for a day in the sun. One of our favorite tips to spice up your water is by adding some fresh ingredients to add natural sweetness and flavor. The Eating Bird Food blog shares 6 delicious infused water recipes like blueberry basil, grapefruit jalapeno, strawberry thyme, rosemary raspberry, cucumber lemon, and grapefruit lemon-lime.

Lunch + Snacks

If you’re spending a few hours at the pool or beach, you definitely will need to pack along with lunch or some filling snacks. Our blog, Simply Better Living, is full of delicious and mindful recipes that are easy to transport and will keep you feeling satisfied. A few options that you can prep beforehand and bring along are Sausage and Pepper Lettuce Wraps, a Summer Smoothie, or Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Muffins.

Mask + Hand Sanitizer

Things look a bit different this summer with masks and hand washing being an essential part of our daily lives. Even though the pool and beach are outdoors, it’s not a bad idea to pack along a mask just in case you need to use a public restroom or make a stop on your way there. We have a blog post on how to make your DIY face mask at home (no sewing required)! In addition to a mask, be sure to pack along hand sanitizer just in case you find yourself in a situation where you need to wash your hands, and there are no sinks around. If you are out of hand sanitizer, My Heavenly Recipe is sharing how to make your own with just 3 ingredients!

We hope you all have a fantastic and safe summer! If you follow these tips or make any of our delicious recipes, be sure to tag us on social media and use the #SharpStayAtHome hashtag!
