The cold and dark days of winter are slowly creeping away and the brighter days of spring are ahead! As the seasons change, I find myself looking for new ways to spruce up my life. I love new and exciting things, so adding a bit of variety to my daily routine is the perfect way to do this! Everyone experiences self-care and self-love differently because we are all different. When I focus on self-care, my productivity increases, my interactions in relationships are more positive, and I feel an abundance of happiness. Here are just a few ways I am practicing self-care this spring:
Enjoy a Mindful Meal
In my opinion, a well-nourished body is one of the many keys to happiness. On days when I am feeling tired and looking for a boost of energy, I can always rely on water and a mindful meal to do the trick. Cooking is a great way to lose track of time as you focus on the task in front of you. Preparing a meal on my Sharp Induction Cooktop is one of the ways I can channel my energy into one thing and focus on myself. I always smile with pride as I look at my completed dish. Not only am I fueling my body with something delicious and nutritious, but I am also rewarding myself for my hard work prepping the meal!
Clean Your Space
The kitchen is the first place I run to when I am looking to escape the chaos of my life. In the kitchen, I can prepare something small to snack on, a meal for the whole family, or indulge in a mouthwatering dessert. With everything that goes on in the kitchen, it can get a little messy and unorganized. To ease my mind and create a more productive environment, I clean and organize my home often (and everyone in my family knows that when I’m in cleaning mode, I am in the zone!). I wipe down my cooktop, clean the dishwasher, and organize my kitchen with these organization tips! After the kitchen is sparkling clean, I work my way through the rest of my home. The feeling of a clean and organized home gives me peace of mind knowing that everything is where it should be and is looking like a million bucks.
Get Fresh Air
I look forward to my daily walk with the dogs and sitting on the porch to drink my tea at night because I get to embrace all of the fresh air around me. After being cooped up in the house for months from colder weather, it’s time to get outside for fresh air. On warmer days, I pack a little snack (usually a cheese arrangement) and head to the park or on a bench by the water. I listen to my favorite songs or discover new podcasts. The fresh air clears my mind of any lingering thoughts and gives me time to reconnect with myself. Some days I like to switch it up and go for a bike ride or find a small walking path near my neighborhood. On days when my schedule is swamped with tasks, I still find time to embrace the fresh air and nicer weather by opening up the windows in my home.
Start a New Hobby
Adventure and the unknown excite me. I am always looking for new things to learn and explore. Start with 10 minutes a day to have some alone time. During this time, discover a new hobby. If you’re looking for something to do this spring, start your own garden! If space is at a premium, don’t worry you can still grow things! A garden can be just one pot with the item of your choice. You can also use this time to get the little ones involved! My niece and nephew beg to help me with my plants every time they come over. The kids care for the plants just as much as I do. The smiles on their face when they help is almost as big as mine watching them do it.
Read a Good Book
If you’re waiting for your dish to finish cooking in your Sharp Wall Oven or just heated up a beverage in your Sharp Smart Countertop Microwave, try elevating your free time with a book. I can sit on the couch and sip on my coffee for hours without realizing how much time has passed. I recently rekindled my love for reading and have had my nose stuck in a book ever since.
Self-care is about reconnecting with yourself and this may look different for other people. For some, cooking and staying busy may be the perfect outlet and for others, it may be unwinding on the front porch with some tea and a good book. No matter how you like to embrace your self-care time, it is important to designate that time each day for yourself. Just 10 minutes a day can be plenty!
