Calling all football and finger-food fanatics! It’s time to gear up for the Big Game! Football season all comes down to one Sunday in February and it’s finally almost here.
This is my favorite day of the year because it’s all about football and SO much good food. Did you know that this is the 2nd largest food consumption day of the year in the US? Next to Thanksgiving, of course. There are tons of recipes and ideas that you can use to create the perfect football-themed spread.
If you’re like me, you’ve been waiting for this game since last year, and have been planning your party for weeks. You might be hosting your friends and family to cheer on your favorite hometown team, or maybe you’re going to a party just to watch the commercials and the halftime show. Either way, you definitely want to be game-day-ready. If you’re not sure where to start, don’t worry. From appetizers to decorations and everything in between, we’ve got some tips on how to be the hostess (or guest) with the most-ess.

Fun Football Food Spread
A key factor for the perfect gameday party is having fantastic food for everyone to enjoy. Chances are, everyone at your party will be bringing their favorite recipe and there are lots to choose from besides your typical chips and dip, pretzels, and cheese & crackers. It might be hard to pick just one, so we narrowed down our favorites. If you are looking for the perfect dish to bring or treat your guests to, try adding one of these mouthwatering options to add to the food table:
- Soft Pretzels with Beer Sauce
- Buffalo Chicken Mac and Cheese
- Black Bean and Corn Quesadillas
- Cream Puffs
This is the perfect time of year to try a new recipe you’ve been eyeing and get feedback from your friends and family. Which dish are you keeping on your plate all game long? We’ve got our hearts and eyes set on the Soft Pretzels cooked using a Sharp Superheated Steam Oven and a Sharp Cooktop!
Gameday Decorations
Your favorite team might not be in the game this year, but decking out the party in some football-themed decorations is sure to get everyone in the spirit. And, if your team is in the game, you can find team-specific items too. There are football-shaped plates, balloons banners, yard line cups and napkins, toy helmets, posters, and plenty of other options in party stores or online outlets.
If you feeling up to the challenge, try creating your own decorations with things you might have around the house. Before you toss those soda cans into the recycling bin, try making a Football Goal Post decoration! True Money Saver has the details of the step-by-step process for creating a memorable piece of decor. Check out the innovative piece here! If you’re looking to decorate an entire wall, create a field goal out of yellow balloons. Blow up the balloons with air and stick them to the wall in the shape of a field goal. Extra point(s) if you place a football balloon or cutout in between the posts!
Games for Everyone
In addition to the Big Game on TV, some partygoers might want their own friendly competition during the day. Having a few games available will keep everyone happy in between the action. Games like cornhole, football trivia, a scavenger hunt, or bingo to go along with the commercials are fun for everyone involved. Entertainment goes beyond the scheduled game time. Schedule your own games to strike up the competition before, during, or after the Big Game!
Whether you are hosting or attending the Big Game, the options to elevate the day are endless. It’s a fun day to be with friends, watch the game and of course, eat!
