Microwavable Egg Options
Whether scrambled or poached, it is possible to make yourself an egg-cellent (pun intended) breakfast in two minutes or less. To enjoy scrambled eggs on the go, first, crack two eggs into a microwave-safe to-go coffee cup, add 1 tablespoon of milk, and sprinkle some salt and pepper into the cup to taste. After you have prepped your meal, place in your microwave on high for 1 minute and 30 seconds. Once the cooking time has ended, simply whip the mixture with a fork to fluff the eggs, and enjoy.
If you have a few more minutes to prepare, you could also arrange an egg sandwich on an English muffin to go. We have attached a fantastic recipe by Genius Kitchen below for an easy microwavable breakfast sandwich.
Some ingredients you’ll need are:
- 1 large egg
- 1 tablespoon milk
- 1 teaspoon butter (melted)
- Salt & pepper
- 1 slice American cheese
- 1 English muffin
In a microwave-safe bowl, melt butter in the microwave for 10-15 seconds, then add egg and milk to a bowl, season with salt and pepper, and mix well. Once finished, cover the dish with a paper towel and microwave on high for 1 minute and 30 seconds. While your eggs are cooking, toast your English muffin. Once the cooking time has ended, remove the bowl from microwave, loosen the egg with a spoon around the edges (which should be solid and fluffy) and place the egg onto the English muffin. Top with cheese and serve hot.
French Toast in the Microwave
Here at Sharp, we believe that the best kind of toast is French toast. Since a long morning meal prep does not exactly fit into our busy schedules, we have found a recipe from AllRecipes.com that is both quick and easy.
In order to make a single serving batch of French toast in your microwave, you’ll first need a microwave-safe mug. To start off, place the butter into your mug and melt it in the microwave by cooking it for about 30 seconds. Tilt the mug to coat all sides with melted butter.
Stir melted butter, milk, egg, cinnamon, sugar, and vanilla extract together in the mug. Press bread cubes into milk mixture.
Microwave on High until set, about 90 seconds
1 tablespoon butter 1/4 cup milk 1 egg, beaten 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon 1/4 teaspoon white sugar 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract 2 slices bread, cut into cubes
Pancakes in a Mug
Waking up to the sweet smell of syrup in the morning and devouring a fresh pancake is a dream come true, there’s no denying that. But who has time to break out the griddle and make a heaping pile of pancakes AND make it into the office on time?
This single-serving microwave mug pancake is the answer we have all been waiting for. To have one fluffy pancake ready in less than a minute, start off by whisking your favorite pancake mix with milk in a microwave-safe mug. Heat the mixture in your microwave for 1 minute on high. After the cooking time has finished, allow the pancake to cool for at least 30 seconds to 1 minute before scooping out of the mug and serving with syrup.
Microwave-Made Blueberry Muffins
Something sweet is always a necessity in the morning; but after a long day of work, who has the time to bake a few batches of muffins for the week? Luckily, we have a delicious single-serving microwaveable blueberry muffin recipe by BudgetBytes that will hit the spot in less than 2 minutes. Some ingredients you will need include:
- 1/4 cup flour
- 1 Tbsp. brown sugar
- 1/4 tsp baking powder
- 1/8 tsp salt
- pinch cinnamon
- 1/2 Tbsp. butter
- 2 Tbsp. milk
- 1-2 Tbsp. frozen blueberries
“In a microwave-safe mug, stir together the flour, brown sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon until well mixed. Add the butter to the mug and use your fingers to rub or smoosh them together until no large chunks of butter remain and the mixture looks like damp sand. Stir the milk into the butter/flour mixture. It should now resemble a thick muffin batter. If it’s too dry, add a splash more milk. Sprinkle blueberries over top and push them down into the batter. Microwave on high for approximately 90 seconds. Enjoy with a drizzle of maple syrup over top.”
