It is no secret that I am popcorn-obsessed; during quarantine, I have been heavily snacking on popcorn and kettle corn while I work remotely. Every now and then, I like to switch up my popcorn game and challenge myself to make recipes that are out of my comfort zone. The good news? There are tons of creative ways to use popcorn as a base for some of our other favorite snack foods. Next time you’re bored with your typical dessert or need a new go-to breakfast favorite, try one of these popcorn remixes. The best thing about all of these recipes? The popcorn can be popped with absolute ease using Sharp’s Orville Redenbacher’s Certified Carousel Microwave. Below are just a few of our favorite ways to mix up the everyday bag of popcorn.
Popcorn Granola
Granola is my ultimate easy go-to for breakfast every morning. I am an early riser, I’m talking 4:00 am wakeup time, so I like to start off my day with coffee and yogurt with granola on top. It is something light to satisfy my hunger until I have the energy to actually get up and make myself a breakfast smoothie or eggs. When I would commute back-and-forth to work every day, yogurt and granola was my go-to snack to grab as I was rushing out the door to eat during the day at my desk as well.
Now when you combine popcorn with some granola must-haves like nuts, seeds, coconut, brown sugar, and maple syrup it makes a savory and sweet protein-packed breakfast that keeps me satisfied all day long! Our friends at Food 52 put together this video showing how they use Sharp’s Orville Redenbacher Certified Carousel Microwave to make this breakfast must-have. Check it out in the recipe video below:
Chocolate Peanut Butter Popcorn Truffles
Chocolate and peanut butter are the perfect combinations, right? Right. This ideal duo is made even better by the addition of my favorite snack food, popcorn! For this Chocolate Peanut Butter Popcorn Truffle recipe, you’ll need to add in some rolled oats, agave syrup, coconut oil, and chopped peanuts to make the ultimate sweet and salty dessert. The only problem, it’s impossible to have just one! When I made this recipe, I told my family to try a bite and guess what was inside, while they didn’t guess all of the ingredients, it was a fun way to have others taste test my unique creations.
Salted Butter Popcorncicles
Popcorn and ice-cream may sound like a bit of a strange combination, but these salty and sweet popsicles are made even better with the addition of some crunchy kernels as a garnish. This snack is perfect for those warm summer evenings to come, so make a big batch to freeze ahead of time. That way, next time a heatwave comes, pull one out of the freezer, top with popcorn, and enjoy!
Buttered Popcorn Chocolate Chip Cookies
It seems like every time I scroll through our Instagram feeds; there is a new crazy addition to the classic chocolate chip cookie. This one may take the cake, adding buttered Orville Redenbacher’s popcorn to a traditional chocolate chip cookie makes for a sweet, salty, and buttery combination that is just too tasty to resist.
