Green Tea Sugar Cookies

Guest blogger, Nicole Martin of Tea for Me Please, has compiled several tasty recipes using Sharp’s Tea Ceré. The first? These delicious Green Tea Sugar Cookies!

Cooking with matcha has become increasingly trendy. You can now find everything from matcha donuts to savory treats in bakeries and restaurants. It’s also very easy to use at home. Just add your green tea powder to any batter or mix. A little goes a long way so you’ll only need a few tablespoons to change both the color and taste. One of my favorite recipes is a green tea twist on the classic sugar cookie.

Ingredients

1 cup of butter

1 cup of sugar

2 eggs

2 tablespoons of milk

1 teaspoon of vanilla extract

2 cups of flour

1 teaspoon of salt

2 teaspoons of baking powder

2 tablespoons of matcha

Cream butter and sugar. Beat the eggs well and add to mix. Then slowly add other ingredients until thoroughly combined. Refrigerate dough for at least 1 hour. Place the dough on a floured surface and slowly knead in flour until it is no longer sticky. Gently roll out dough and cut with cookie cutters. I like to use a leaf shape for these but any type will do. Bake at 375°F for 5-7 minutes or until the edges are just beginning to brown. For perfectly cooked cookies in just minutes, try using the SuperSteam+ Convection Oven & enjoy!
