For our readers who know how much I enjoy celebrating food holidays – how could I not?
It’s basically giving me the license to indulge! I love enjoying a little something sweet at the end of a long day, but I don’t like the mess and prep time that can often accompany baking. That’s why I decided to compile a list of some of my favorite sweet microwave snacks that can be made using a Sharp Microwave Drawer. These are all very simple recipes to create and don’t require an oven or a mess to clean up!
These recipes are perfect for those late nights when your sweet tooth is aching, and you don’t have the patience for baking. Let us see your creation by tagging SharpHomeUSA on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
Cinnamon Roll Mug Cake
I had to include this recipe because I LOVE sticky buns at any point of the day (although they are technically meant for breakfast). This recipe is sweet enough to be enjoyed any day, any time.
Go ahead and grab an over-sized microwave-safe mug and combine flour, white sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, fat-free milk, and vegetable oil. Whisk all ingredients together until combined. In a separate bowl combine brown sugar, cinnamon and butter to make the cinnamon swirl. Pour the cinnamon swirl over cake mixture in a circular motion, so it makes a swirl pattern. Cook in the microwave for about one minute.
While the cake is cooking, combine butter, cream cheese, and powdered sugar to make the frosting. Remove from the microwave, top with frosting, and of course, enjoy!
Lemon Fudge
It’s pretty apparent by now that we love microwaveable mug recipes, but sometimes we want to mix things up a little bit! This delicious and easy lemon fudge also is made in a microwave, no mug required!
Simply combine white chocolate chips, milk and butter in a microwave-safe bowl and cook on high for 1-2 minutes, stirring every 30 seconds. Remove from the microwave and stir in lemon extract and a small amount of yellow food coloring. Pour mixture into a foil-lined baking dish and refrigerate for a minimum of 2 hours before serving. Pro tip-top with some sprinkles for added fun!
Red Velvet Molten Lava Mug Cake
Valentine’s Day may only come once each year, but red velvet mug cake is a treat I look for once a week. Plus an added bonus of this recipe is that it has a molten lava chocolate center – perfect for all the chocolate lovers out there! To make, start off by combining flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, buttermilk, fat-free milk, vegetable oil, distilled vinegar and 1-2 drops of red food coloring in an oversized microwave-safe mug.
Mix all ingredients together until smooth and then place two (or three if you’re feeling brave) dark chocolate truffle balls in the center of the batter, making sure to spoon some mixture over the top so that the chocolate is completely covered. Then microwave for about 55 seconds and let it cool. The smell is amazing…Yum!
Next time a craving for something sweet and straightforward hits consider trying one of these tasty microwavable treats. They require little to no prep time, are (relatively) mess-free and are sure to make even the loudest sweet tooth quiet down.
